About CTW
Bio: CTWpromotions was formed officially in 2005 as a way to continue to help and promote all genres of music artists in the new era of Myspace. The name derived from the influential indie record label of the same name which was started way back in 1991 by Mike “CTW” Warden.
Mike Warden is the founder/owner of Conquer The World Records (CTW) the notable indie label. CTW is always on the cutting edge in creative online marketing concepts and promotional avenues. He is considered a noteworthy A&R talent scout as several bands he has discovered and put under the CTW label have gotten to the next level and even have started careers under "major" level record companies and subsidiaries. Let alone the influence those bands have directly had on their respective sub genres, multiple record labels have been started on consultation encouragement and inspiration early on from the CTW label. February 2006 added another accomplishment as Warden became a cutting edge audio book publisher. He is now 36 years old and continues to nourish up and coming artists through the CTWpromotions agency.

The problem with this website is that I have been here since the start around 2005 when I started working with musicians doing targeted legitimate marketing for them on Myspace. Yet many waves and waves have passed so basically I should make a completely new website but a lot of the information is still very relevant that is here. CTW is still here in 2011 however trends and patterns and the way that we interact with each other has changed drastically. I have survived all the changes because what I do for clients is legitimate marketing. This will never change no matter what site or what platform is popular for musicians to market to. However new people come and look at the website and they think this is something old. It is, and it isn't. We still have clients some of which has been with us for over 3 years now and still have inquiries however the we work has changed a lot and because of those changes the work I do for clients is more so done off the website.
I would recommend even in today's indie music climate if you can afford to market and promote your music profiles that you give the work here a chance. We still work all three platforms but we do so in way that everything is rolled together into a campaign that is completely customized and targeted and designed to get you the best results.
Decide what your budget is being $50, $75, or $100 per week. On a constant basis and then we can get together through email and we will develop a campaign. Many methods get results but all of them require a constant campaign on the schedule. Genuine marketing work is a slow and steady effort. Nothing we do can be achieved overnight or immediately because we don't script fake work plays. friends, follows, or fake likes on Facebook. You will be very hard pressed to find someone else like me who has been doing this for years and no matter what the changes or trends are we always have a game plan that is based on legitimate direct targeted marketing methods.
The websites and the communities where you need to be promoting might change over the years but the marketing concepts will always be the same. Obvious Myspace is not where the traffic is these days however at one time Myspace was the cornerstone of any musicians web activity. Just think that I have been here through the entire growth, boom, slowdown, bust, rebirth and attempted growth again on Myspace over a period of so many years. I remember when Myspace security tightened everything up and it was very tricky but now everything is much more loose and I still do daily work for clients on Myspace despite Facebook being the prominent platform.
Now certainly I have discussed the many pitfalls and problems with this issue of Facebook being the largest website however those ideas are in other articles that can be read from newsletters. I do want to say however that the reason why Facebook themselves limits you with so much security is because they want you to PAY them to advertise to find fans and I don't know anyone in any way shape or form who can afford to pay $2.50 to $3.00 per FAN individually on Facebook. Not only is this pricing completely cost prohibitive for any indie artist but how effective can a automated targeting programming matrix really be? I've had some clients tell me that they did try the Facebook ads and certainly it did next to absolutely nothing for them and cost them a lot of money for the very little results.
The model that I use is a constant daily work flow done in a legitimate targeted manner at a low price so you can't feel that your getting exploited like you would if you did a Facebook AD campaign. I will develop the campaign the best I can and work it every day, every week spend a couple hours a day on your profiles and hopefully the work will help you. Now the budget is the key don't sign up to a campaign that you cannot afford because the work must be constant to get results because everything I do is proactive and if we stop being active you will not get the results.
Next topic is something you might find strange but I can't tell the numbers I can achieve for you. I can't guarantee you fans or massive amounts of LIKEs, or Friends or Followers I can only do the work. I can't tell you how many you will get or setup a system for you to buy LIKES or fans because there is no way via legitimate work to get you specific numbers. That being anyone which offers you fixed numbers is simply doing fake work. Just like 5 years ago I never said you will get 500 friends per day or you will get 200 more followers per day. It DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY, IT CANNOT work that way when doing legitimate work.
Like when you play a show no matter what genre style etc, you cannot know how many people that see you will respond favorably to your music. You don't know how many shirts you will sell or how many CDS or people that will sign up on your email list. You don't know because every client, every musician is unique and different. Every campaign we do is based upon tested direct marketing concepts but every client we have is different on so many levels. Predicting and offering a guarantee on response would be deceptive business. I refuse to be a typical business person simply taking advantage of people. I have never done it and have always tried to steer people away from those who do fake work under that type of mindset. When you go play a show you can only give yourself a chance for people to respond to your music by bringing or targeted your music directly to them and that's the same thing that I try to do for clients except the work will bring the potential fans to your stage via your own profiles. - mikewarden@wowway.com

It's so hard to keep the website updated with social network marketing changing constantly. New articles are written and our marketing approach changes with the current trends on a monthly basis. It's absolutely best to be on the mailing list as you will get the most updated newsletters, information and methods on how we should be promoting your profiles.
For instance in our most recent newsletter we just rolled out a Facebook aggressive blasting service but you would of only heard about that on the email newsletter list until we updated the website.
As with all work we require logins and passwords of the profiles being worked on. In all ways in no shape or form can ANYONE do any legitimate work without this information. Promoters which are doing work on your profile and they are not asking for or getting this information are NOT legitimate and they are doing fake friends and or numbers or friend trains or fake mafia war friends etc. In other words it's pointless and certainly not worth paying for. Do not pay for fans on your artist page on Facebook they are script driven and are not targeted at all.

8/19/2010 Facebook Conversions
As most of you know, since you have been on my list for quite some time, trends in social network marketing have changed. Most interaction has switched from Myspace to Facebook in recent months. This is not a good thing for Myspace musicians that rely upon their profiles for the hub of their activity to promote themselves. On the other hand, Facebook makes it really hard for musicians to use their profiles to attract new visitors. However, this is where your friends are spending most of their time. So the solution is to convert your existing Myspace fanbase to your Facebook page. I have been doing this type of work for some months now (fanbase conversions), I just haven't written an article/newsletter about it.
What we are now doing, with our typical subscription plans, is more cross marketing. We will use your existing Myspace list and create new targeted demographics for you to achieve this goal. This will also attract more people to your website, your twitter, your youtube channel or any other sites you employ in your daily efforts as a musician in this new music business climate.
It is important for every musician to have their own website to use as a portal for various platforms. When we first hired Mike we had less than 1000 friends and now we´re almost up to 8000, still increasing. I think he did a great job, we wanted to promote ourselves on the swedish/scandinavian market and we got a lot of new friends. I think we had at least one hour per day answering comments and mails from people that liked the music. We also got in contact with record labels and producers and tons of other bands so our network got a lot bigger. I don´t know how much or if our digital sales increased and we did´t sell that many cd´s, but that might be our own fault since we don´t have distribution in Scandinavia yet, only from USA (www.cdbaby.com).
